FOUNDER & PRODUCING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Aaron Salazar is a New York City Theatre Director/Producer & choreographer who specializes in Immersive and Experiential work. Salazar’s Artistic Home is Poseidon Theatre Company of which he is the Producing Artistic Director & Founder. He enters into his 2nd decade in NYC with his most recent work: The Cooping Theory 1969: Who Killed Edgar Allan Poe? An immersive paranormal experience with Executive Producers: DDM Productions at RPM Underground in Midtown Manhattan. His work has been featured in The New York Times, New York Post, New York Daily News, Wall Street Journal, Time Out NY (Best Immersive Theatre in NYC/ Top 13 Best Halloween Shows 2019) and received the title of “Best Immersive Shows & Experiences of 2019” from No Proscenium and was awarded Best Environmental Immersion (show) 2019 in the U.S. from Immersion Nation.
Online his work was featured on XLive.com, Playbill.com, No Proscenium & Urban Milan. Salazar has been featured on the podcasts: Bagels & Broadway with Valerie Smaldone & Immersion Nation with Nathanial Skye. Salazar has also been a key speaker for the Infinity Makers Collective. As an educator Salazar works as the lead instructor for the newly launched partnership with Wildrence (NY’s Premier Immersive Venue and Consultation Studio): Immersive Labs “Acting In Immersive” training program/workshop series in New York City. Under the direction of Executive Director: Tony Mayes & Founding Producers Yvonne Chang & Jae Lee.
Salazar has spent a life in the theatre starting at the age of 8 years old. Having been a student in the final years of the “magnet” vocational training programs, he started training in the arts in the 4th grade and has never looked back. Since moving to NYC 20 years ago, he has worked in a myriad of capacities in the arts. Both on and off stage. As a celebrated educator, Salazar’s students have moved on to have success in film, television & Broadway. With a foundation in classical theatre craft & dance, he has married all of his skills to hone the formation of Poseidon Theatre Company in NYC. “PTC” focuses on the Exploration & Development of Immersive & Traditional works through classic based texts and lore both from the great canon of foundational stories and modern mythology.
Other projects include co-hosting the Creative Hustle Podcast with Hassan Sayeed and the relaunch of the Poseidon Theatre Company Podcast. Most recently Salazar mounted “BitterSweet” an immersive pop-up installation featuring the art of Mikel Glass at Nancy Manocherian’s The Cell Theatre in NYC (Artistic Director Kira Simring) where he is a current artist in residence with Poseidon Theatre Company developing a new production for the Spring/Summer of 2020.
